Outnumbered and Coupling
By far the best comedy while in my 29's was :- "Whatever happened to the likely lads ?", and later before we moved to the USA were :- "Open all hours" and "One foot in the grave".
Brilliant, - other than "Everybody loves Raymond", - you can keep American comedies.
A small shout for "Gimme Gimme Gimme" if only for the wondrous Kathy Burke delivering the line "e'd 'av my flaps goin' like flip flops ... " 🙂
Ab Fab, Gavin & Stacy, Two Doors Down, Trollied, Fleabag
Rossiter was on a roll back then.
Not sure how far these have travelled, but I have a soft spot for a couple of regional comedies, both mockumentaries.
The best thing to come out of Brexit is undoubtedly Soft Border Patrol. Careful with that chorizo now!
The other show, is Tourist Trap which takes a bit to build but mines some rather funny truths in Welsh tourism.
Keeping Up Appearances, Piglet Files, As Time Goes By
The Detectorists. Hands down - just for the scene in the beergarden with Lance and Sheila near the end of season (series?) 2. W1A, Gavin & Stacey, Doc Martin (season 1-5) after that if falls off for me, ATGB, IT Crowd.
Seinfeld was pretty good.
Last of the Summer Wine
Miranda (sorry, the US ripoff just doesn't do it justice - why can't they just leave perfection alone?) The perfect pandemic show.
The Upstart Crow
Jeeves and Wooster
Benidorm is my all time fave britcom.. totally addicting !!!.. i have both britbox and acorn...
As Tme Goes By, Keeping Up Appearances
I can't believe I forgot this one, and it's deffo going to offend the woke. But, how can one not laugh hysterically at good ol' Benny Hill?
Another funny one I liked, but only lasted maybe two series was one about a couple running a B&B in Margate. The show was named after the B&B, which was named after a popular 80s song. Brilliant cast you've seen everywhere, including Louisa Lytton who plays Ruby on EE. Sadly, it only was on for a quick moment.
Lastly, I can't go without mentioning Vicious, starring the amazing Sirs Ian McKellan and Derek Jacobi, along with the indomitable Frances de la Tour and Rhys Whatshisname from GoT.
Edge of Heaven? Only six episodes were made.
