To us arriving at Paddington is a joy. We associate the people and the noise our welcome to London.
I LOVE Paddington Station. When Mrs Anglotopia and I went to London together for the first time in 2004, we arrived in Paddington Station from the Heathrow Express and she thought it was like a storybook. Can't beat that for first impressions!
A grand experience.
Yes! Paddington is great. I take Heathrow Express to Paddington and then get on the District Line to the Tube Station at Bayswater. I like staying in the Kensington area. I love the London Tube. Yay for Oyster Cards.
Here's a few pictures I took of Paddington when I visited in 2018 for the Royal Wedding. I wanted to try and capture some of the amazing architectural details.
My favorite pub in London is the Mad Bishop and Bear which is at Paddington and I like to stay first night at the Paddington Hilton
An old acquaintance can step from the morning train and straight into his office at Paddington.
I have a mixed memory of the place when trying to travel to Bristol. My train was cancelled, not sure why now, but The Great Western Railway and Paddington Borough Band were playing in the concourse so I was treated to a selection of film themes until a train finally arrived.
The work of the great IK Brunel no less ..!
If you like the architecture of Paddington, take a train to Brighton ... for many reasons, the Railway Station being one of them ...
